: Ramblings - I have used both CamStudio? and Microsoft Media Encoder. CamStudio? worked the best especially when recording a database application that had extra disk usage. Microsoft Media Encoder was too slow but the picture quality was excellent. One minor little bug with CamStudio? is that long recordings seem to get the sound out of sync with the video after about 15 minutes or so. I believe this is less of an issue when using the new 2.5 beta version though. When I use CamStudio? I always record to an AVI file and then use the Media Encoder to translate the video to .wmv which is much smaller or upload the .avi to a public site like viddler. Using the .swf recorder in CamStudio? makes a video that is really difficult to read on the standard screen and there is no way to change it. This is also a problem with sites like youtube, there resolution is really bad for screen casting. Another possiblity is to use a program like Magnify Glass which by hotkey will magnify part of the screen and make it much easier to see on the video. There is a free version of Magnifying Glass but it didn't work on my dual screen system so I used the demo of version 1.5 that worked for my needs.

AT&T email Settings

Make the Changes Manually: To manually make the required setting changes in Outlook, Outlook Express and other email applications, please follow these detailed instructions.

Alternatively, you may take the following steps to change the settings on your desktop or mobile email client program:

Open your email client program.
Locate the email account settings for your particular client.
Change the POP server to pop.att.yahoo.com.
Change the SMTP server to smtp.att.yahoo.com.
Check the option labeled Use an encrypted connection (SSL).
Change the SMTP port to 465.
Check the option labeled Use an encrypted connection (SSL).
Change the POP3 port to 995.
Confirm the above settings before clicking OK.

The web-based version of AT&T Yahoo! Mail is not affected by these changes and will continue to be available at http://mail.yahoo.com.

Fixing USB drives

First step, Start, Programs, Accessories, System Tools, System Restore. Create a restore point and name it something like "Before USB Fix". This is to bail you out if something goes wrong during the following process and makes things worse.

Create a file with NOTEPAD containing the following lines and save it as FIX.REG

Use text after this line

REGEDIT4 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet?\Control\Session Manager\Environment]"DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES"="1"

Use text before this line

Double click on FIX.REG and say yes to the Merge Into Registry question.

Unplug ALL USB devices. Open Device Manager. View, Show Hidden Devices. Uninstall all devices under USB Controllers. Uninstall all devices under Disk Drives that you know are not present. Uninstall all devices under Storage Volumes. Say no to any reboot prompts until you are finished. Also, if a Storage Volume doesn't uninstall, ignore it and move to the next one. If you have a yellow ? with unknown devices, uninstall all of the entries there as well.

When this is done, reboot TWICE.

Reconnect the USB devices and see if they're recognized properly.

NOTE: If you have a USB keyboard and/or mouse, you'll have to modify the instructions and leave enough parts for those to function. I don't have one yet, so I haven't had time to modify the instructions. __________________
